We’d like to introduce you to our Good Beer Quality Control Officer – Jamie Lynch. Ridiculously excited about Caractère Rouge Rodenbach since forever, he’s here to make sure Beervana is bringing you the best beer and letting you all know what’s good.

We asked Jamie to tell us a bit about himself…
“I’m an interloper to your wonderful country, I’ve been here for three years and plan to stay forever, I’m originally from the UK, growing up in Grimsby and Edinburgh. By day, I am a Senior Advisor within the Ministry for Social Development. I always had a passion for beer, stemming form the real ales of home, then graduating to Belgian and Czech beer festivals and tours. Craft beer, as we know it, was in it’s infancy when I left the UK, it was only really when I moved to Australia that hops came into my life. Nowadays, you’ll find me bar hopping around Wellington, my favourites (looking at my bank statement..) seem to be Hashigo Zake and the Malthouse, and I play football for Little Beer Quarter so I do like to pop in there too. Away from beer I spend too much money on vinyl records and have a bunny rabbit and guinea pig that are indifferent to my existence.”
It seems Jamie has taken the 10,000 hours rule seriously when it comes to beer. We admire his dedication to The Craft. When we asked him “Why do you think you have what it takes to be the Beervana Good Beer Quality Control Officer” he replied:
“I have been training my whole life for this moment. Beer festivals, beer tours, countless hours in dimly lit craft beer bars, ferreting around in murky bottle shops and choking down grey market EU/American stuff, all of that building up to this moment. I have a vast body of training in sampling and enjoying NZ/Aus/USA beers across the world and am a seasoned Beervana attendee. I think, or rather, Ive been wearily told that i have a wide flavour vocabulary and am fond of an adjective or two. I love the flimflammery and nerdiness that goes into making my favourite tipples and I love that beer is an inclusive and integral part of everyday socialising amongst friends, I would love the opportunity to further that by determining the Beervana beers to be of excellent quality and fit for purpose!
Well said Jamie, well said. You had us at Flimflammery. We’re in excellent hands with this one.
Follow his antics on Instagram and Twitter and watch out for when he takes over the Beervana socials in the lead up to the event.
